Mariam graduated from Otago University with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery with Distinction in 2012. In 2013 she gained membership with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, also with Distinction.

She began her dental career as a dental house surgeon at Nelson Hospital, gaining invaluable experience in emergency and hospital dentistry. She has since been working in private practice in Timaru and then Auckland, before deciding to relocate to Dunedin with her husband in 2021.

Mariam enjoys all aspects of general dentistry with a particular interest in helping anxious and young patients feel empowered and comfortable in the dental chair. Mariam keeps up to date with regular local and international professional dental courses and in particular enjoys providing patients with the latest in cosmetic dental techniques. She is a member of the New Zealand Dental Association and the Society for Sedation in Dentistry.

In her spare time, you will find her tramping, snowboarding and baking often for the team.
